May only has the one birthstone but its a stunning gem. Emeralds whether they are faceted or a cabochon they are just amazing.

Emeralds are members of the Beryl family.

They are a 7.5-8 on the MOHS scale for hardness and one of the main treatments for emerald is if it has any cracks they will be oil filled. Its for this reason that emeralds should not be cleaned in an ultrasonic cleaner, it will remove the oil and expose the cracks. Any treatment of any form should be disclosed to the customer before its purchased.
